The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) organizes World Environment Day annually on June 5. It has been observed since 1973 to raise awareness among nations about taking environmentally friendly actions.

Ravi Narayana Reddy is Born

Ravi Narayana Reddy, a communist leader and a prominent figure in the Telangana freedom movement, was born in 1908 in Yadadri – Bhuvanagiri district. He is regarded as a pioneer of the armed struggle in Telangana and played a significant role in organizations like the Andhra Mahasabha and Andhra Janasangham.

Yogi Adityanath’s Birthday

Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and a prominent BJP leader, was born in 1972 in Pauri Garhwal district. He holds the record of being the first CM to be elected to power for two consecutive terms in UP.

Operation Blue Star

On this day in 1984, Indian commandos entered the Sikh holy Gurdwara Golden Temple in Amritsar to flush out terrorists who had infiltrated the temple. The operation was named ‘Blue Star’.
