Prominent engineer Dr Kanuri Lakshmana Rao, who played a crucial role in the realization of the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam project, was born on this day in Kankipadu, Krishna district, in 1902. In recognition of his services, the Pulichintala project in AP was renamed the KL Rao project.

Chandra Rajeswara Rao is Born

Indian independence activist and prominent communist leader Chandra Rajeswara Rao was born on this day in 1915. He played a key role in the Telangana armed struggle. He served as the national general secretary of the CPI for over 28 years.
