1st Test: Proteas ahead after 2nd day as Indian bowlers struggle

In the first Test match between India and South Africa, the Indian team is in trouble. The second day of the first match in this two-match Test series has ended badly for India. In this Test match in Centurion, South Africa is leading by 11 runs in the first innings, with 5 wickets still left.

As rain interrupted the first day’s match, Team India scored 208 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 59 overs. KL Rahul saved Team India with a century. KL Rahul continued his innings at the beginning of the second day of the match. Team India’s first innings ended as KL Rahul got out after a brilliant century. At the start of the second day’s play, India were bowled out for 245 runs in just 8.4 overs.

South Africa then came to bat and lost a wicket in the beginning. Mohammed Siraj dismissed Aiden Markram (5) for 11 runs. From there, Dean Elgar and Tony de Zorzi put on a partnership of 93 runs to put the Proteas team in a good position. After that de Zorzi, on 28 runs, was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah. The next batsman Keegan Petersen scored only 2 runs. Later, Dean Elgar put on a 131-run partnership with David Bedingham for the fourth wicket. When SA’s total reached 244, Bedigham(56) was bowled by Siraj. Then the Proteas’ wicketkeeper-batsman Kyle Verreynne made 4 runs and took the path to the pavilion off the bowling of Prasidh Krishna.

Later, the second day’s play had to be stopped early due to poor light. At stumps, South Africa had scored 256 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Dean Elgar remained unbeaten on 140 runs. Marco Jansen (3) will continue the innings with Elgar on the third day. Temba Bavuma is yet to bat in the Proteas team. Gerald Coetzee also knows how to use the bat. With this, it is expected that the Porteas team will get a good lead. On the other hand, the Indian bowlers need to flourish and tie down the South African batsmen.
