CWC 2023: Hardik’s Injury A Huge Concern For Team India

India is heavily dependent on Hardik’s services as an all-rounder in this World Cup. So far our team has played four matches and Hardik has taken wickets in three of them. Captain Rohit believes that Hardik will be the third pacer for team India giving balance to the batting order. In accordance with this, Hardik took a crucial wicket against Australia. He took two wickets in each match India played against Afghanistan and Pakistan. It is noteworthy that Hardik is bowling better than the other all-rounder Shardul.

In this context, Hardik, who bowled in the ninth over during the Bangladesh innings on Thursday, bowled only three balls. Liton Das smashed the third ball as a straight drive while Hardik failed to stop it with his right foot. In this process, Hardik sprained his ankle. He slipped down and was seen in severe pain. After the initial treatment, he tried to bowl but was not able to carry on. While he left the field, Virat Kohli bowled the remaining three balls. Captain Rohit said after the match that there was no major injury found from Hardik’s scans.

But in this World Cup, Team India is yet to play against big teams like New Zealand and England on the 22nd and 29th of this month. This comes a big blow to the team combination. Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is set to miss the match against the Kiwis. Pandya is being sent to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. Doctors are monitoring his ankle injury. BCCI disclosed that the doctors feel there is a chance for Hardik to recover with an injection. Meanwhile, there are still 9 days to go for the match against England. Let’s hope Hardik recovers by then. If the injury is serious and if the team management does not want to risk playing Hardik, then Hardik Pandya’s role in this World Cup may come to an end.
