CWC 2023: India Smash Bangladesh With Kohli’s Hundred

As part of the ODI World Cup-2023, India won the match against Bangladesh on Thursday in Pune. India came into the ring with a target of 257 runs. India won against Bangladesh by 7 wickets in 41.3 overs. With this, they won four matches in a row in the World Cup and stood 2nd in the points table behind only New Zealand. In this match, openers Shubman Gill (53) and captain Rohit Sharma (48) gave India a good start. Both of them put on a partnership of 88 runs for the first wicket. In the 13th over bowled by Hasan Mahmud, Rohit hit a six with a pull shot in the third ball. He hit a huge shot on the next ball and gave a catch to Tauhid and turned back. After that Virat Kohli continued to play aggressive shots. Gill, who completed his half-century in 19 overs, played a huge shot to the second ball of the 20th over by Miraz and was caught by Mahmudullah on the boundary line. Shreyas Iyer came to the crease later. Kohli hit a four off the fifth ball of the 27th over bowled by Hasan Mahmud. He took a single off the next ball and scored a half-century. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer could not stay at the crease for long. He got out after scoring 19 runs in 25 balls with two fours. Virat played consistently with KL Rahul who came later, and scored runs too.

Kohli’s Aggressive Batting

Team India’s star batter and run machine Virat Kohli played an amazing innings. With a single six, he completed his century and took the team to victory. With this, Kohli received the player of the match award. Overall, this came as Kohli’s 48th century in ODI career and 78th century in international career. Kohli scored 103 runs off 97 balls. There are 6 fours and 4 sixes in it. KL Rahul exploded with 34 runs. As a result, the Indian Cricket Team chased 261 runs in 41.3 overs with the loss of only 3 wickets. Among the Bangladeshi bowlers, Mehidy Hasan Miraz took 2 wickets and Hasan Mahmud took one wicket. Earlier among the Indian bowlers, Bumrah, Siraj and Jadeja took 2 wickets each. Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket each. Unfortunately, during his bowling, Hardik Pandya twisted his ankle and had to leave the field. Luckily, India finished the batting chase without needing him. His scan results were still being awaited as of when Shubman Gill gave the team’s press conference.
