ICC’s new rule for white-ball cricket! Players may find it difficult

The ICC has once again brought the stop clock rule for the T20 World Cup to be held in the month of June. First, ICC introduced this rule as a trial between England and West Indies teams in December 2023. The trial period is scheduled to end in April. But in the meantime, ICC has decided to make this rule permanent in ODI and T20. This rule will start from the 2024 T20 World Cup. This rule was approved at the ICC meeting held in Dubai.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has brought a new rule in men’s ODI and T20. A crucial decision was taken to complete the game within the stipulated time in both formats. The rule is that there should not be a gap of more than 60 seconds between overs. The bowling team has to start the next over within one minute after bowling one over.

A stop clock is used for this. The ICC governing body has announced that if the 60-second rule is broken three times in an innings, the bowling team will be penalized 5 runs by adding them to the batting team’s score. The ICC said the rule will be used to control the time taken between overs. Due to this, the fielding team does not have a chance to discuss for a long time in the middle of the overs.
