IND Vs SA: ODI Series win for young Indian side with Samson’s 108

Team India once again showed its strength on South African soil. The team won the 3 ODI series, 2-1. India won the decisive third ODI against South Africa by 78 runs at the Paarl venue.

After losing the toss and batting first, the Indian team scored 296 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Sanju Samson exploded with 108 runs off 114 balls. On the other hand, Tilak Varma also excelled with 52 runs. Rinku Singh who made quick runs as long as he was at the crease, scored 38 runs. India finished with 296 runs from their full 50 overs.

Chasing a target of 297 runs, the South African team was bowled out for 218 runs in 45.5 overs. Tony De Giorgi, who scored a century in the second ODI, also played a huge innings in this match. He excelled with 81 runs. At one stage, South Africa was in a great position scoring 135 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 25 overs. But, in the next over bowled by Washington Sundar, the Proteas lost consecutive wickets. Markram was sent back by Sundar. Soon after, Arshdeep dismissed De Giorgi.

Then off the bowling of Avesh Khan, Sai Sudarshan took a good diving catch at mid-off and Klaasen turned back. Sai Sudarshan impressed everyone with this spectacular catch. After that, the Proteas lost consecutive wickets. In the end, the team was bowled out for 218 runs. Among the Indian bowlers, Arshdeep Singh took 4 wickets, Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar took 2 wickets each, while Mukesh Kumar and Akshar Patel got one wicket each.
