NZ vs AFG: Kiwis Bat First, Set 288 Runs For Afghan

As part of the ODI World Cup, the match between New Zealand and Afghanistan will be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. After winning the toss, Afghanistan chose to bowl and invited New Zealand to bat. The Kiwis scored 288 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Opener Will Young scored 54 runs off 64 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Captain Tom Latham scored 68 and Glenn Phillips played crucial innings with 71 runs. Both of them are the reason why New Zealand scored so well. Devon Conway scored 20 and Rachin Ravindra scored 32 runs. Daryl Mitchell was limited to single digits.

Though Afghan bowlers controlled the run flow at the beginning, with Tom Latham and Glenn Phillips’s heroics NZ managed 288 runs. Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan took a wicket each. Azmatullah Omarzai and Naveen-ul-Haq took two wickets each. We have to see how Afghanistan will face the New Zealand bowlers in this match, as they batted brilliantly against England and won.
