Pakistan Stars Doubtful For AUS vs PAK Due To Viral Fever

As part of the ODI World Cup 2023, Pakistan players got a big shock when they reached Bangalore to face Australia on October 20. After the recent defeat against India, Pakistan’s players got viral fever. While four people were suffering from viral fever, the medical staff conducted covid tests for all of them in advance. Star players who were affected include Shaheen Afridi, Abdullah Shafiq, Zaman Khan, and Usama Mir. But two players are still not recovered, one of them is reportedly still suffering from flu.

Star Players Away From Practice Sessions

The key players of the Pakistan team who reached Bangalore have not participated in the practice sessions so far. According to the schedule, Pakistan should participate in their first practice session at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. While it was scheduled from 6 pm to 9 pm, the practice session was shortened to one hour due to the illness of the players. However, a few players did participat in the practice sessions.

Negative Net Run Rate (NRR) Concerns Pakistan

The Pakistan team is currently fourth in the points table. Four points were obtained with two wins in the three matches played. But the net run rate is in the minuses. After the defeat in the match against India, Pakistan’s NRR fell. Now, if Pakistan’s net run rate is to improve, it must win the match against Australia. But there is a possibility that the Pakistani star players will miss the match as the viral fever has not subsided. Meanwhile, PCB is hopeful that all Pakistani players will recover before the match against Australia.
