‘The Kerala Story’ is Gearing Up for OTT release, Streaming Date?

Big-budget movies often secure lucrative deals for their OTT rights well before hitting theaters, while smaller films see digital platforms acquiring rights based on post-release performance. One such example is “The Kerala Story,” directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amritlal Shah under Sunshine Pictures. Starring Adah Sharma, Yogita Balani, Siddi Idnani, and Sonia Balani. ‘The Kerala Story’ made with a budget exceeding 28 crores and a pre-release business of around Rs. 35 crores. Despite its release on May 5 amid controversies, the film garnered substantial collections from its initial 2000-screen release, aiming for a break-even target of 37 crores.

While considerable time has passed since its release, the producers, noting the absence of OTT business, contemplated releasing it on YouTube. However, Zee5 swooped in at the last minute to acquire the digital rights, reportedly planning an OTT release around Sankranti, on January 12 or January 19. The acquisition by Zee5 is said to be at an impressive rate, creating anticipation for the film’s digital premiere.
