Veteran Actress Waheeda Rehman Gets Prestigious Award

Veteran Bollywood actress Waheeda Rahman has been conferred with the prestigious ‘Dada Saheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award’. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur declared today that Waheeda has been selected for this year’s award. Meanwhile, she was selected for this award for her 5 decades of service to the Indian film industry.

Waheeda Rahman made her debut with the Telugu film ‘Rozulu Marai’ in 1955. The popular Telugu song ‘Eeruvaka Sagaro Runno’ from this film brought her good recognition. After that, she entered the Bollywood film industry in 1956 with the film CID. There, she acted in many super-hit films like ‘Pyasa’ and ‘Guide’. In a span of 5 decades, he acted in more than 90 films in all languages. In 1971, Waheeda received the National Award for Best Actress. Also, Padma Shri in 1972 and Padma Bhushan in 2011.
