Aadudam Andhra: YSRCP government stands by AP sportspersons

Since the YSRCP government came to power in AP, there has been a notable increase in opportunities for sportsmen across the state. The government is actively promoting youth and athletes, especially in rural areas, by organizing sports competitions to foster a spirit of sportsmanship and enhance their physical and mental well-being. The ‘Aadudam Andhra’ competition, spanning 50 days, is now reaching its culmination, with the closing ceremony set to take place at the YSR International Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday. Chief Minister Jagan will grace the event as the chief guest and award prizes and incentives to the winners.

Recognition for upcoming athletes

The state government has launched the ‘Aadudam Andhra’ tournament to discover and promote athletic talent from rural areas and place them on national and international platforms. Over 50 days, 25,40,972 athletes, including 17,59,263 males and 7,81,709 females, have participated in the competitions. The government has allocated approximately Rs. 37 crores for sports equipment for the participants.

As part of Aadudam Andhra competitions, matches were organized at various levels, including 3.30 lakh matches at the village and ward level, 1.24 lakh at the Mandal level, 7,346 at the constituency level, 1,731 at the district level, and 260 at the state level. Winners from the village and ward level were selected for the mandal level, and so forth, culminating in today’s state-level competition in Visakhapatnam. The government plans to award Rs. 12.21 crores in prizes and incentives. Additionally, Aadudam Andhra competitions are set to become an annual event.

Winners of the competitions to receive cash incentives

The men’s cricket final match will take place at Visakhapatnam’s YSR Stadium on Tuesday. CM Jagan will attend the closing ceremony and witness the last five overs. Following that, he will award cash prizes to the winners of various sports categories. Winners in cricket, volleyball, kabaddi, and kho-kho competitions will receive Rs. 5 lakhs, Rs. 3 lakhs, and Rs. 2 lakhs respectively for first, second, and third place. In Badminton Doubles, the prizes are Rs. 2 lakh, Rs. 1 lakh, and Rs. 50 thousand respectively for the top three positions.

Moreover, the government plans to recognize exceptional athletes who have showcased their skills in the Aadudam Andhra Mega Tournament. Various associations, including the Andhra Cricket Association with Chennai Super Kings, Pro Kabaddi League, Black Hawks franchises, and Kabaddi-related organizations, are actively scouting talents in cricket, kabaddi, volleyball, and kho-kho. International Badminton players are participating to identify promising talents in Badminton. Identified players will receive training opportunities at both national and international levels.
