CM Jagan Extends His Support To Handloom Sector

Andhra Pradesh state government has implemented the ‘YSR Netanna Nestham’ scheme for handloom workers. With this scheme, yarn and new weaving equipment are provided to every handloom weaver family. To this extent, every year, Rs.24 thousand is directly deposited in their bank account. Apart from this, credit facilities for handloom weavers, investment for raw materials, skill training, formation of clusters for manufacturing and sales and a superior marketing system are standing by. Meanwhile, CM Jagan is providing a sigh of relief for the families who have been relying on the handloom industry for the past four years.

Cooperation of central institutions and bankers

The state government is supporting weavers in all ways. Cooperation of central institutions and bankers is also being sought. So far, a total of Rs.969.77 crore has been provided to each worker who has a loom in five instalments of Rs.24 thousand each at the rate of Rs.1.20 lakh each. Also, a total of Rs.1,254.42 crores has been provided to handloom workers under the gift of YSR pension at the rate of Rs.2,750 each.

Mudra loans to handlooms

AP government provides loans to all eligible handloom workers under the Mudra Scheme. Apart from this, clusters have been set up for the modernization of looms and better skills. Recently, the government also gave a green signal to purchase piles of yarn. To this extent, the National Handloom Development Corporation has provided Rs.250.01 crore to 416 primary handloom workers’ cooperative societies in the state and Rs.122.50 crore worth of yarn through self-help societies in four years.

CM Jagan Financial Support

During the reign of YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the loan dues of handloom workers were waived, and handloom cooperative societies were revived. Similarly, a 10 per cent discount was announced on financial guarantees, yarn, dyes and chemicals for APCO. At that time, the pressure was put on the center and the 9.2 per cent excise duty on yarn was cancelled. Today, there is joy in the families led by YS Jagan, who are bringing financial light. The election promises were fulfilled. As part of the Navratnas, the Jagananna government has so far provided a benefit of ₹3,706.16 crore through various schemes for the welfare of weavers in conjunction with the YSR Netanna Nestham scheme.
