CM Jagan’s Permanent Solution To Uddhanam: No More Water And Kidney Problems

The people of Uddanaman will breathe a sigh of relief. The problem of kidney disease, which has been plaguing the local people for decades, will soon be resolved. CM Jagan will inaugurate the comprehensive protected freshwater scheme undertaken with Rs.700 crores and a hospital and kidney research centre built for kidney patients with Rs.50 crores. Meanwhile, it is known that CM Jagan laid the foundation stone for this freshwater scheme on 6 September 2019 to supply safe drinking water to 807 resident villages in seven mandals of the Uddanam area of Srikakulam.

571 Overhead Tanks

As water is available throughout the year, water is being diverted from Hiramandalam Reservoir. 2.67 TMC of water will be available in this reservoir at a minimum water level. Meanwhile, the government has also constructed a total of 571 overhead tanks in various villages for this purpose. To this extent, the construction of two substations to move the water has also been completed.

8.40 Crore Liters

Uddanaman will be diverted from Hiramandalam Reservoir at the rate of 8.40 crore litres daily for drinking water needs. However, as the Vamsadhara River is in the water transfer route, a pipeline of about half a kilometre was constructed in the river bed. Similarly, three heavy water pumping motors with a capacity of 1,300 HP have been installed. For drinking water supply through taps, the Uddanam area has been classified into ten clusters. With this, arrangements have been completed for the supply of safe drinking water to every house of around 8 lakh people living in the Uddanaman area throughout the year. It is reported that CM Jagan will start the project on December 15 after the work is completed.
