CM Jagan’s War On Poverty With Various Schemes: Appreciation From Gujarat’s GLPC

CM Jagan’s welfare schemes undertaken in AP are decreasing poverty drastically. CM Jagan has crossed a key milestone in achieving the ambition of ‘My war is against poverty’ and ‘The welfare of the poor is my goal’. With this, praises are pouring on Jagan’s government. It is known that NITI Aayog has recently revealed that the state’s poverty rate, which was 11.77 percent as of December 2016, will be reduced to 6.06 percent by December 2021. Recently, the members of a group of high officials of Gujarat praised the programs undertaken for the eradication of poverty. Apart from this, they praised the AP government for setting an example for the country through programs like a revival of savings societies and women’s empowerment.

Reduction of interest rates on loans

A delegation of Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company (GLPC) met with the officials of SERP, SBI and Canara Bank in Vijayawada under the leadership of IAS officer Pushpalatha. As a part of this, details like sanctioning loans and payments to savings societies were learned. The officials explained points like the reduction of interest rates, waiver of processing charges, the establishment of Jagananna Mahila Marts, and loans given to savings societies. Later, the members of the team of Gujarat officials visited Maddipadu mandal of Prakasam district. On this occasion, they spoke to the women of the savings societies and learned the details. After that, they inspected the ‘Cheyutha Mahila Mart’ in Maddipadu, the honey industry set up by thrifty women in Inamanamellur and the duck hatcheries in Kanumalla Panchayat of Singarayakonda Mandal. Similarly, they visited Inamanamellur Rythu Bharosa Kendra and learned about the services provided to the farmers. It is stated that they are touring the field to implement these policies in Gujarat.

99.67 Percent Timely Payment

The state government is taking steps to provide permanent income to women through the YSR Asara and YSR Cheyutha programs. As part of this, the government has made a special agreement with Hindustan Lever, Procter and Gamble, ITC, Reliance, Ajio and other companies. As a result, 16 lakh poor women have established a permanent livelihood in the last three years. Similarly, in the previous six months, 13,000 new women entrepreneurs have emerged and are setting an example by paying 99.67 per cent of the loans taken to the banks on time.

Zero Interest Renewal

CM Jagan, who assumed power in 2019, implemented the YSR Asara scheme to pay the debt in banks in the name of savings societies directly to the respective women in four instalments. With this scheme and the reintroduction of zero interest, savings societies have revived. In just 54 months, CM Jagan’s provision of loans to thrift societies and timely zero-interest payments have strengthened the system of thrift societies in the state. After that, poverty alleviation became possible with the establishment of investments and businesses through savings societies. A team of Gujarat officials who examined these policies implemented in the state appreciated the excellent performance of the savings societies.
