Dream Come True for AP Fishermen: Juvvaladinne Harbour to open soon!

AP government will soon give good news to all the fishermen. The fishing harbour they have been dreaming of for many years will soon become available. Thousands of fishermen are happy that there is no need to migrate to other states once this is completed. AP CM YS Jagan, to remove hardships of fishermen, took up the construction of nine fishing harbours at Rs 3,520.56 crores, in an unprecedented manner, immediately after he came to power.

Juvvaladinne will start in February

The four fishing harbours Juvvaladinne (Nellore), Nizampatnam (Bapatla district), Machilipatnam (Krishna district) and Uppada (Kakinada district) which were taken up in the first phase are progressing rapidly. In this Juvvaladinne fishing harbour works are almost completed. There are chances of completing the rest of the work in a few days and opening it in February. Developed at Rs 288.80 crores, this harbour will have a berth of 1,250 boats. This will benefit 6,100 fishermen families. When it comes to Nizampatnam Harbour, 75 percent of the work has been completed. The works of Machilipatnam and Uppada harbours are also 40 percent complete.

Second Stage

Under the second phase, the tender process for the works of Budagatlapalem (Srikakulam), Pudimadaka (Visakhapatnam), Biyaputhippa (West Godavari), Oderevu (Prakasam) and Kothapatnam (Prakasam) harbours with a cost of Rs 1,997.76 crores have been completed and the works will start soon.

Establishment of Integrated Food Parks

It is estimated that 41,250 tonnes of fishery resources are available annually through Juvvaladinne Harbour. AP Maritime Board is working to set up integrated food parks at harbours to bring additional income to fishermen. Apart from fish products, these parks will also be set up to process other agricultural products.
