Election Commission Warns Double Voters in Two States for AP Polls

As the time for the assembly and general elections is drawing near, the Election Commission is reviewing the arrangements in AP. As Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly elections are being held simultaneously in the state, the EC is taking strong measures. Final touches have already been given to the voter list. The Election Commission has said in a statement how many voters there are in Andhra Pradesh. The EC has announced that the total number of voters across the state is 4.07 crore. It said that women voters are more than men.

Enrollment of new voters in large numbers has led to a huge increase in the number of voters. The Election Commission is working with the objective of making every voter count. In this order, special attention was given to those who did not come to vote last time. EC is taking special measures, especially for the vote of the elderly, the disabled and sick people. As a part of this, voters were given the opportunity to vote at their homes. Thus, EC is giving the opportunity to 5.8 lakh people to vote from home.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission made a key announcement on the final vote list. The EC has announced that the final voter list will be released on the 22nd of this month. It is preparing to take strict measures against those who have the right in both the Telugu states. It has warned that criminal action will be taken if they vote in more than one place. They questioned how those who voted in the Telangana elections would vote again in the AP elections. The Election Commission has made it clear that just because one has properties in AP one cannot vote in AP if one does not reside in AP.

Details of voters:

Total voters – 4.07 crores
Women voters – 2.07 crore
Male voters – 1.99 crore

First-time voters:

7.88 lakh people

Voters over 100 years of age:

1,174 voters (EC is making special arrangements for them to exercise their right to vote)
