Political Leaders Jump into Race for Assembly Tickets

With elections looming in Andhra Pradesh, the race for seats in various constituencies has already begun among political leaders, even before official notifications are issued. In many areas, several candidates from different parties are vying for seats, sometimes without clear direction from party leaders. This has led some aspiring leaders to publicly criticize their parties, suggesting they might switch allegiances if not given a seat.

Against this backdrop, the Rayachoty constituency ticket has become a focal point in AP politics. Key leaders from various parties are eager to contest this seat. TDP’s Rayachoty in-charge, Ramesh Reddy, weighed in on the matter, stating that many individuals are vying for the ticket. He made bold statements, indicating that he would reveal his decision if the ticket were allocated to someone else.

Once the political epicentre of the Kadapa district, Rayachoty has now been overshadowed by Annamaiya, the new district headquarters. Since its formation in 1955, the Congress party has dominated this constituency in most elections. However, the emergence of YSRCP, led by Jagan following YS’s demise, has changed the dynamics. Srikanth Reddy, a prominent figure in YSRCP, has secured victories in both the 2014 and 2019 elections, maintaining his stronghold in the area. Consequently, there’s speculation regarding which TDP leader will challenge Srikanth Reddy in the upcoming election.
