YS Jagan Releases Wedding Funds For Brides From Poor Families

There is a saying in Telugu that elders like to recite when it comes to spending money. It goes like ‘The Expense of a Wedding or Building a new house can only be known after experience.’ That’s because these two tasks are very costly. At a time like this, it is becoming a burden for poor families to get girls married. No matter how low the cost of organizing the ceremony is, the expenses for the wedding such as gold mangal sutra, new clothes, food, wedding mandap and so on will pile up on the family by the time the wedding rituals are sung. Keeping this in mind, CM YS Jagan has launched YSR Wedding Gift (YSR Kalyanamastu, YSR Shadi Tofa) schemes to support brides during their wedding.

Why Qualifications Are A Criteria For This Scheme?

The Jagan government has set certain qualification requirements for candidates to benefit from YSR Kalyanamastu and YSR Shadi Tofa with the idea that the children of the poor should pursue higher studies. Both the bride and groom are considered eligible only if they have passed 10th standard. This encourages every parent to educate their children. With this policy, the face of government schools is changing. Also, prevention of child marriage is made possible by making 18 years mandatory. Therefore, by the time of marriage, the rule that the girl should be 18 years and the boy should be 21 years is being implemented strictly.

Regarding the welfare schemes, CM Jagan said that he has brought Amma Vodi to motivate mothers and this scheme will be applicable till Intermediate. He explained that they are showing interest in pursuing higher education for their children as education and accommodation benefits are available after Intermediate also with Vidya Deevena and Vasathi Deevena.

Additionally, the CM said that he is very happy to find out that out of the 10,511 couples that are benefiting from Kalyanamastu and Shadi Tofa, 8,042 couples have already received benefits under Amma Odi or Jagananna Vidya Devena or Jagananna Vasathi Deevena.
