YSRCP Renews Call for Special Status for Andhra Pradesh in Lok Sabha

Once again, the YSRCP has voiced its demand in the Lok Sabha for the declaration of special status, asserting it as the rightful claim of the people of Andhra Pradesh. YSRCP MP Satyavathy advocated for this demand during the Lok Sabha debate on the President’s speech. She emphasized the need for the Central government to stand by Andhra Pradesh, which has faced setbacks due to its division, and collaborate in its development.

During her address, MP Satyavathy urged an expansion of the coverage of National Food Security Ration Cards in Andhra Pradesh in line with NITI Aayog’s recommendations. She highlighted the state’s frequent losses from cyclones and appealed for the establishment of a permanent fund by the central government to protect Andhra Pradesh from such natural disasters.

MP Satyavathy pointed out that Andhra Pradesh leads in education, trade facilitation, and fisheries. However, she lamented that despite promises made by the ruling Congress government and later the BJP government, special status was not granted. Instead, special funds for development were assured. The MP reiterated the YSRCP’s commitment to fighting for the special status for Andhra Pradesh, emphasizing the need for the central government’s support in the state’s progress.
