Punjab Governor Resigns, Letter to President

Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit has resigned from his position. He sent his resignation letter to the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President needs to approve the resignation of the Punjab Governor.

Banwarilal Purohit continues to serve as the Governor of Punjab and the Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Banwarilal Purohit, who represented Nagpur in the Lok Sabha three times, later withdrew from active politics. The BJP government at the Centre first appointed him as the Governor of Assam in 2016.

In 2017, Banwarilal Purohit was transferred as the Governor of Tamil Nadu, and later in 2021, he was appointed as the Governor of Punjab. While Banwarilal Purohit was serving as the Governor, the Punjab Assembly elections took place in 2022.

The resignation of Banwarilal Purohit, a highly experienced figure, from his position has become a topic of discussion. Governors typically do not resign before the end of their term. Banwarilal’s resignation stands out as a rare instance among governors.
