Car Symbol Petition: Supreme Court Shock To BRS

BRS suffered a setback in the Supreme Court as the court dismissed their petition. Previously, BRS filed a petition in the Supreme Court requesting to disallow other election symbols resembling BRS’s car symbol. They asked to remove the car symbol from the Free Symbol category. The Supreme Court today rejected this petition during a hearing.

The petition stated that symbols like road roller, camera, chapati roller, soap dish, television, sewing machine, ship, autorickshaw, and truck should not be assigned to any party or candidate and removed from the list of free symbols.

The Central Election Commission recently allotted the road roller symbol to the Yuga Tulasi party to contest in Telangana and AP. In this context, the BRS moved the Supreme Court to remove the marks similar to BRS’s car in view of the problems caused by this mark in the past. In the petition, it has been stated that due to car-like signs, BRS may lose many votes in the elections. A two-judge bench headed by Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Pankaj Mittal dismissed the BRS petition.
