Telangana to Conduct BC Caste Census Soon

Minister Ponnam announced that a caste census will be conducted soon in the state. He stated that their government is committed to this decision in accordance with the promise made to the people before the elections. He revealed that Congress is contemplating providing opportunities based on the population ratio. He announced that a bill regarding this would be introduced in the legislative assembly.

He conveyed that a bill would be tabled in the legislative assembly to legally formalize the conduct of the caste census. He indicated that the bill will be introduced during the legislative assembly’s budget session, which is set to commence on February 9. It is known that the responsibility of preparing the draft bill for the caste census has been assigned to state BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar. On the other hand, CM YS Jagan in Andhra Pradesh has also initiated steps for conducting a caste census. There is information that in Andhra Pradesh, a total of 723 castes will be categorized into OC, BC, SC, and ST groups for the census.
