‘Thief Couple’: Wife snatches chains while husband rides the scooty

Chain snatching has been an issue on Indian roads for years. In Telangana, a couple were seen stealing jewellery from the necks of women walking around on the roads. The incident took place in Marriguda police station’s jurisdiction, Nalgonda district. The video of the two lovers stealing the chain and getting away on the scooter at lightning speed has gone viral on social media. Details of this incident are as follows.

Sathu Sunitha of Yaragandlapalli village of Marriguda mandal came out for work in the village on Friday. At this time, a young woman came from behind on a scooty and broke the 4 tola gold Mangalsutra around her neck. Villagers followed them on bikes as the victim shouted ‘thief’. The villagers chased them, but the couple quickly escaped on a scooty. During the chase, the villagers recorded a video of the couple riding the scooty. In Marriguda mandal, a campaign started that a young woman was snatching chains and running away on a scooty while the man was riding it. Police are hunting for the couple.

After receiving the complaint from the victim, the police started investigating the case. They reported that the couple was identified through the CCTV footage. Devarakonda DSP revealed that four special teams have been formed and are investigating to find this young couple. According to the latest reports, the couple have been caught by the police. Investigation revealed that the young couple were married and took to stealing in order to take care of their newborn girl child.
