TS Government Contemplates Budget Strategy, Meetings in February?

As the central government gears up to present the budget on the 1st of the upcoming month, arrangements are underway for legislative budget meetings in the second week of February. The Congress-led state government is reportedly considering introducing the state budget based on its contents, while the central government, due to the impending general elections, is deliberating between a full-fledged budget and a vote-on-account.

If a full budget is presented, it could lead to extensive discussions on various demands and requirements, necessitating at least two weeks of assembly meetings. On the other hand, a vote-on-account might result in shorter sessions, lasting no more than four to five days. Amidst speculations that the Lok Sabha election schedule could be released after the second week of February, the government aims to conclude the state budget meetings before this potential announcement. There is a growing likelihood of opting for a vote-on-account budget this time.
