YS Sharmila’s Sensational Decision On TS Elections, Blow To BRS?

With Telangana elections right around the corner, YSRTP President YS Sharmila made a sensational announcement. Till now she had been maintaining that she would contest alone in the election ring and now she is staying away from the contest. She said that YSRTP has decided to support the Congress party.

Earlier, Congress leaders met Sharmila at Lotus Pond. Reportedly, the Congress leaders asked YSRTP to cooperate with Congress by not contesting the elections. In the past, alliance and reconciliation could not be achieved in spite of several efforts. But it seems that this decision was finally taken after discussing it with the Congress leaders once again. “If I split votes of the Congress party, history will not forgive me” Sharmila explained. She added that for this reason, YSRTP has decided to support the Congress party in these elections.

“The aim of YSRTP is to free the people from the dictatorial rule of KCR. That is why the party was established. Even before establishing the party, we protested for 42 Tuesdays. We had done a 3800 km walk. There is opposition to KCR in Telangana. If the opposition vote against KCR is split, KCR will become the CM again. Many people are saying that the Congress party has a chance to face KCR. Congress leaders asked me not to make the Congress, a party which was made by YSR, lose these elections. I have no intention to harm the Congress party.” explained YS Sharmila.

“Last week we announced that we will contest in 119 constituencies. A lot has changed this week,” she said. Sharmila added that if KCR becomes CM again, we will have to see many horrors. That is why, she said, she is supporting Congress. “It was difficult for me to make this decision and I do feel a little sad. This is a decision taken for the people of Telangana.” declared YS Sharmila. She then asked the people to forgive her if she made a mistake.
