Medaram Jatara Highlight: Pagiddaraju and Jampanna En Route to Medaram Today!

With just a few hours remaining for the opening of the Medaram Sri Samakka-Saralamma Jatara in Mulugu district, anticipation is high for this renowned event, often referred to as the ‘Dakshina Kumbh Mela’. The ceremonial procession to bring Vanadevaru, Sammakka’s husband Pagiddaraju, and his son Jampanna to Medara is scheduled for today, ahead of the fair’s commencement tomorrow morning. Priests have meticulously arranged for the procession, expected to draw thousands of devotees. The entire Medara region is bustling with devotees, and Minister Seethakka affirmed that the government has finalized all preparations for this significant tribal tradition.

At 9 am today, the ceremonial procession will commence to bring Pagiddaraju and Jampanna to Medara. Amidst tribal customs, Pagiddaraju will be escorted from the temple at Poonugondala in Gangaram mandal of Mahabubabad district, while Jampanna will be brought from Kannepalli in Mulugu district to Medaram. Following the Shanti Puja, Pagiddaraju will be adorned as the groom in a symbolic ritual by the Penka Vamsiyas. They will then embark on a foot procession to Medara. Simultaneously, Jampanna, Sammakka’s son and Saralamma’s brother, will be escorted to Medara by clan members from Kannepalli. Departing at 5 pm, they are expected to arrive at Medaram by 7 pm, where they will be ceremoniously installed.
