BCCI Launches Domestic Red Ball Tournament for Women

The BCCI announced great news encouraging women’s cricket in the country. Reports suggest that a red ball tournament will also be introduced in domestic cricket. Currently, women only play domestic one-day and T20 white-ball tournaments. It is reported that BCCI is planning to conduct Test matches in domestic cricket for women. An official announcement is expected soon.

Six teams divided based on North, South, East, West, Central, and North-East zones will compete in this tournament. The tournament will begin on March 29. Quarter-final matches will be held on March 29, 30, and 31. Teams that win in the quarters will move on to the semi-finals. There is a possibility for two semi-final matches to take place from April 5 to 7. The final will be held on April 9, 10, and 11.

The Women’s Premier League is currently taking place in the country. A special schedule has been formulated with this league in mind. The mega final of this series will be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on March 17. Preparations are being made to start this red ball tournament on March 29, after an 11-day break. It is well known that the Ranji Trophy has been a part of men’s cricket for a long time.
