Cricket: ‘Team of the Tournament’ Announced by ICC Six Players from Team India

With the end of the T20 World Cup 2024, ICC announced the best team of 11 members in the name of ‘Team of the Tournament’. Six players from the Indian team that won the tournament got a place in it. Remarkably, the first name in the team announced by ICC is Rohit Sharma. Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Akshar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh also got a place. But King Kohli, who excelled in the final, did not get a mention.

These are the players in ICC’s ‘Team of the Tournament’

Rohit Sharma, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Nicholas Pooran, Suryakumar Yadav, Marcus Stoinis, Hardik Pandya, Akshar Patel, Rashid Khan, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Anrich Nortje (12th man).

In the T20 World Cup 2024, Rohit Sharma scored 257 runs with a strike rate of 156. Rohit has played brilliant cricket in the last 18 months. He has taken Team India to the finals of three ICC tournaments. Afghanistan’s opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz became the highest run scorer in the tournament this season with 281 runs. He played a vital role in Afghanistan reaching the semi-finals. West Indies’ best player Nicholas Pooran and Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis are the middle-order players of the team announced by ICC.

Even though he couldn’t bat well in the final match, Suryakumar Yadav also got a place as he took a brilliant catch and turned the match around. In the tournament, he excelled against the USA, Afghanistan and England. Team India’s all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Akshar Patel are also in the top 7 list.

ICC has selected Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan as a spinner, Akshar Patel as an all-rounder and Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Fazalhaq Farooqi as the pace trio. South African pacer Anrich Nortje, who performed impressively in the World Cup, was selected as the 12th man.
