Indian Women’s Cricket Team’s Historic Test Victory Over Australia

Historic Triumph for Indian Women’s Cricket Team under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian women’s cricket team achieved a groundbreaking victory, securing an 8-wicket win against Australia in Test matches. This historic triumph marks India’s first-ever victory over Australia in women’s Test cricket, with a record of 10 previous encounters since 1977, where India lost four matches and drew 6. In the 11th match, Team India scored a memorable win.

In the Test held in Mumbai, Australia was bowled out for 219 runs in the first innings. Indian bowlers, including Pooja Vastrakar (4 wickets), Sneh Rana (3 wickets), and Deepti Sharma (2 wickets), played crucial roles in limiting the Australian innings. Openers Shefali Verma (40) and Smriti Mandhana (74) set the tone with a partnership of 90 runs for the first wicket. Contributions from Richa Ghosh (52), Jemima Rodrigues (73), Deepti Sharma (78), and Pooja Vastrakar (47) propelled Team India to a formidable score of 406 runs in the first innings.

Australia faced another setback, collapsing to 261 runs in the second innings. Sneh Rana (4 wickets), Rajeshwari Gaikwad (2 wickets), and Captain Harmanpreet Kaur (2 wickets) played pivotal roles in dismantling the Australian lineup. Chasing a modest target of 75 runs, the Indian women’s team accomplished the victory with only 2 wickets down. Smriti Mandhana (38 not out) and Jemima Rodrigues (12 not out) showcased resilience, leading the team to a historic triumph.
