This historic triumph marks India’s first-ever victory over Australia in women’s Test cricket, with a record of 10 previous encounters since 1977, where India lost four matches and drew 6. In the 11th match, Team India scored a memorable win.
In the Test held in Mumbai, Australia was bowled out for 219 runs in the first innings. Indian bowlers, including Pooja Vastrakar (4 wickets), Sneh Rana (3 wickets), and Deepti Sharma (2 wickets), played crucial roles in limiting the Australian innings. Openers Shefali Verma (40) and Smriti Mandhana (74) set the tone with a partnership of 90 runs for the first wicket. Contributions from Richa Ghosh (52), Jemima Rodrigues (73), Deepti Sharma (78), and Pooja Vastrakar (47) propelled Team India to a formidable score of 406 runs in the first innings.
