NCLT Notices To Byju’s: Focus On Outstanding Payments To BCCI?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said on Monday that the online education platform Byju’s owes Rs.158 crores to the board. In this regard, the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has issued a notice to the company Byju’s. The NCLT issued these notices in response to a petition filed by the Indian Cricket Board. The NCLT informed that Byju’s has been given two weeks to respond to the notices.

Byju’s became the main sponsor of the Indian Cricket Team in 2019 and later went bankrupt leading to Rs.158 crores of outstanding payments to BCCI pending. The NCLT, which ordered BCCI to file their objections within a week, adjourned the case to December 22. Byju’s previously had three important branding partnerships with BCCI, ICC (International Cricket Council), and FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association).
