Motilal Yadav, a lawyer, expressed concern that film celebrities are participating in promotional activities related to harmful products. He filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court objecting to top actors acting in those advertisements. Motilal Yadav stated in his petition that ‘actors who have received honourable awards from the Government of India should not participate in such advertisements’. The court that heard this said that Motilal Yadav’s argument was correct, and the High Court ordered the government to take action on his objections. However, months after this decision, petitioner Motilal Yadav approached the court again as no action was taken.

The High Court issued a notice to the Central Government after not getting any response to their orders. Responding to these, Deputy Solicitor General SB Pandey, on behalf of the Government of India, gave an answer in the court on Friday. In this case, we have issued show cause notices to Akshay, Shah Rukh and Ajay on October 22,’ said SB Pandey in the court. It was explained to the court that Amitabh Bachchan had withdrawn from the advertisements of Gutka affairs, but the Gutka company had broadcast the ad with him. On the other hand, there is already a petition going on in the Supreme Court against celebrities acting in Gutka advertisements, so SB Pandey requested to cancel this petition. After hearing his arguments, the court adjourned the hearing to the 8th of next year without taking any decision.

It is noteworthy that although the notices were given on October 22, it has not come to light so far. Film celebrities appearing in Gutka commercials are often controversial. In the past, many objected to celebrities acting in Gutka advertisements. Film celebrities are being accused of encouraging bad habits. It is known that notices have also been given to those who have acted in the advertisements of gaming and betting apps recently. Now, actors are getting scared to do commercials.
