AP Govt requests protesting Anganwadi workers to resume duties

Anganwadi activists are protesting all over Andhra Pradesh demanding to solve their problems. The movement they have been doing for a few days took a serious form on Wednesday. The siege of the houses of ministers and MLAs led to tension. As the agitations are getting serious day by day, CM Jagan Mohan Reddy has finally responded. Anganwadi workers met and held discussions with the ministers. But with the failure of those talks, their movement continues. In this context, the state government has issued a public announcement. It explained at length the benefits given and welfare done to Anganwadi workers since coming to power. To this extent, an advertisement has been given in several daily newspapers.

While praising the services of Anganwadi, the govt explained the work, schemes and programs done for Anganwadi centres, children and workers. It declared that it was ready to fulfil their demands. In addition to this, the state govt expressed concern that infants, pregnant women and children are suffering due to the strike. All this was mentioned in the statement issued by the government.

“This government is the government of all, the government of all communities. During 55 months, we ruled as a government with a good heart. As a government, we have done everything to do good. We remind you that the promises made in the manifesto have been implemented. We have taken steps towards making everyone happy by implementing even the promises that were not given,” said the government.

“You are all our people, our desire is to do the best for you. The Government is determined to fulfil your legitimate wishes. Due to your strike, infants, pregnant women and children are suffering from malnutrition. We are begging you to understand” requested the govt. Apart from this, it has also issued a warning to the Anganwadi workers. “The government has the responsibility to pay additional attention to infants, pregnant women and children. In view of their well-being, we request the Anganwadi workers not to create a situation where the government has to make alternative arrangements,” warned the government. The Council of Ministers appealed to call off the strike. Anganwadi workers and helpers are expressing their anger at this announcement. They said that the government is resorting to threats when the demands are not resolved. The Anganwadi workers have made it clear that they are ignoring the government’s announcement and that they will continue their strike as usual.
