Chandrababu Naidu Accused of Targeting Pension Beneficiaries

Chandrababu Naidu has indeed harboured a grudge against the elderly, women, and widows. Driven by his anger towards the volunteers and CM Jaganmohan Reddy, he is venting his frustrations on the pension beneficiaries. His primary aim appears to be the complete dismantlement of the volunteer system. Indeed, the actions taken by Chandrababu and the subsequent developments seem to confirm this narrative. He has filed complaints with the Election Commission to disrupt the smooth distribution of pensions by volunteers and is now using his support from the BJP to pressure the Election Commission. This is to ensure that pensions are not distributed through the secretariats set up by Jagan.

According to the latest decision by the Election Commission, 80% of pension payments will now be deposited directly into bank accounts, with a few exceptions. However, this method of depositing pensions into banks could severely inconvenience the elderly and disabled, especially during the hot summer months and prevailing strong winds. The elderly and disabled often face significant challenges when travelling to banks or ATMs to withdraw cash, as these facilities are typically located in district centres and not in villages, requiring travel by bus or auto. With the state experiencing high temperatures, the Meteorological Department advises the elderly to stay indoors unless necessary. Despite these circumstances, Chandrababu is repeatedly causing hardship to the elderly for his political interests.
