West Bengal: Mamata Sets a Condition for Alliance

TMC leader and Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee stipulates that Congress must sever ties with CPM to form an alliance with her party, the Trinamool Congress. Mamata Banerjee also known as Didi clarified that she had offered two seats to Congress, which were rejected, and now she has decided not to give even a single seat.

Didi recalled that CPM had attacked her physically several times in the past, and she survived those brutal assaults only with the blessings of well-wishers. She expressed her anger that there was no way to leave the CPM. She stated that she would never forget those who have formed alliances with CPM.

Mamata Banerjee made these comments at an event held in Malda. Didi clarified that she had offered to secure victory for Congress in two Lok Sabha seats, but they demanded more. She stated that if they allied with the Left, she would not offer them even a single seat. CPM’s General Secretary, Sitaram Yechury, previously announced that there would be no alliance with the TMC in West Bengal.
