APSRTC Bus collides with stationary lorry in Kakinada district: 4 killed

An RTC bus created havoc in Kakinada district of Andhra Pradesh. Four people were killed in a road accident on the national highway near Padalemma temple in Prathipadu mandal. A lorry going towards Bapatla from Odisha suffered a tyre puncture. As a result, the lorry was stopped by the side of the highway and repairs were being made. At the same time, an APSRTC bus going from Visakha towards Rajahmundry collided with the parked lorry.

After the accident, the driver sped away with the bus without stopping. On locals’ information, the police spotted the bus and stopped it at Bommuru near Rajahmundry. The accused driver was identified. The police said that the deceased have been identified as Dasari Prasad, Dasari Kishore, Nagayya and Raju. The police explained that three persons belonged to Nakkabokkalapalem of Bapatla district and one belonged to Prathipadu. The dead bodies were shifted to Prathipadu Government Hospital. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
