Sri Sri Passes Away

Srirangam Srinivasa Rao, popularly known as Sri Sri, was a prominent Telugu poet. He was born in 1910 in Tadepalli, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. He is considered one of the greatest Telugu poets of the 20th century. He was known for his revolutionary poetry, which challenged traditional and caste-based norms. His most famous work, ‘Mahaprastanam’ is a Telugu epic poem that explores themes of death, spirituality, and the human condition. He passed away on this day in 1983.

Composer Chakri’s Birth Anniversary

Chakri, a prominent Indian music composer and singer was born in 1974 in Kambalapally, Mahabubabad district, Telangana. His real name is Gilla Chakradhar. He composed music for several blockbuster Telugu films, including ‘Idiot’, ‘Satyam’, ‘Shivamani’, and ‘Desamuduru’. He received the Nandi Award for Best Music Director for the film ‘Simha’. He passed away due to health problems in 2014.

Anna Hazare is a prominent Indian social activist. He was born on this day in 1937 in Ralegan-Siddhi village, Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra. Manika Batra’s Birthday

Manika Batra is a prominent Indian table tennis player. She was born on this day in 1995 in Delhi. She is the first Indian woman to bag a Commonwealth table tennis individual gold medal in CWG 2018. She was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2018 and the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award in 2020 by the Government of India for her achievements in table tennis.

Culprits in Rajiv Gandhi’s Assassination Arrested

Rajiv Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India, was assassinated on May 21, 1991, in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, India. The assassination was carried out by a suicide bomber from the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a Sri Lankan Tamil separatist group. On June 15, 1991, two suspects in the assassination, Nalini and Murugan, were arrested by the police. They were later convicted and sentenced to death.
