AP Elections: EC Declares ‘Glass Tumbler’ As a Free Symbol

The TDP-Janasena-BJP alliance is facing an unexpected challenge, as the Election Commission has designated the ‘glass’ symbol as a free symbol. This move has led to panic among the alliance leaders as the ‘glass’ symbol has now become a villain to the alliance.

The allocation of the ‘glass’ symbol as a free symbol means that independent candidates, in constituencies where Janasena is not contesting, can use this symbol. This development has caused concern within the alliance, as voters may mistakenly believe that independent candidates using the ‘glass’ symbol are affiliated with Janasena. This confusion could lead to a split in votes in every constituency except for the 21 Assembly segments contested by the Janasena.

Despite repeated appeals to state and central election officials by alliance leaders that TDP, Janasena and BJP are contesting together in this election, they have been unable to prevent the allocation of the ‘glass’ symbol to other parties and independent candidates.

This development has sparked anger among alliance leaders, who feel that their concerns have been ignored by election officials. Frustrated by the lack of action from election authorities, alliance leaders are once again approaching the Election Commission to demand that the ‘glass’ symbol be restricted to only the 21 seats contested by Janasena.
