Important Notice from Excise Department for Medaram Devotees

In preparations for the Medaram Jathara, the Excise Department has imposed regulations requiring buyers of jaggery to provide a Xerox copy of their Aadhaar card. Additionally, purchasers are instructed to submit a daily report to district authorities, including phone number, home address, and the reason for buying jaggery. District authorities have conveyed these directives to jaggery traders, anticipating a substantial trade of 40 to 50 tons per month during the Medaram Jathara.

Most jaggery is sourced from Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh for the Medaram Jathara in the joint Warangal district. The Excise Department is closely monitoring jaggery sales to prevent potential diversions. Concerns have arisen regarding the possibility of jaggery being used in the illegal production. Recent incidents of jaggery seizures in various locations within the joint Warangal district further highlight the need for regulation.
