Rohan Bopanna Clinches Australian Open Doubles Title

A new history was made in the Australian Open Tennis Grand Slam tournament. Indian doubles legend Rohan Bopanna, at the age of 43, clinched the Australian Open Doubles title. In the final, the duo of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden secured a victory with scores of 7-6 (7-0), 7-5 over the Italian pair of Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori. Although both sets were fiercely contested, the pair of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden ultimately emerged victorious.

This is the first Grand Slam title in Rohan Bopanna’s career. Rohan Bopanna has set a rare record as the oldest player to win a Grand Slam title. With this victory, the Bopanna-Ebden pair received the trophy and a prize money of 6.06 crores. Rohan Bopanna has recently reached the number-one position in the men’s doubles rankings. He has been chosen for the prestigious Padma Shri award on the occasion of Republic Day.
