BRS Worried About These Election Symbols.. Will Similarity Split Their Votes?

Telangana assembly election nominations are over. With the expiry of the deadline for withdrawal of nominations, EC is allotting symbols to the candidates. While the EC allots political parties their own polling symbol, it gives different symbols to independent candidates. Some candidates also request some symbols they want from EC. In this background, some signs allotted by EC to some parties are stirring fear in the ruling BRS party. In the past, BRS requested EC not to allocate these particular symbols, but they ignored it. Even after going to court, there was a backlash.

The symbols allotted to the independent candidates by the election authorities are causing anxiety to BRS leadership. There are many things, devices and machines that we use on a daily basis. Pressure cooker, computer, laptop, gas stove, TV remote, gas cylinder, ball, palanquin, bat, hockey stick, ring, glasses, apple, camera, ice cream, torchlight, petrol pump, scissors, mic, toothpaste, fruit basket, carrom board, sewing machine, pots and Janasena symbol glass were also given to the independent candidates. In this context, BRS is alleging that symbols like the chapati stick and road roller in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections respectively, in the last five years, have confused their voters and split their vote share.

It is against this background that the Yuga Tulasi Party requested the Central Election Commission to allocate a road roller symbol to them. After examining their requests, the EC stated that they would give this symbol to the Yuga Tulasi Party wherever they are contesting and would give it to other parties where they are not in the race.

Yuga Tulasi Party candidates are contesting in LB Nagar, Ibrahimpatnam, Serilingampally and Kalwakurthy constituencies. EC has assigned the road roller symbol to them here. On the other hand, the road roller symbol has also been assigned to Mohammed Abdul Aziz, who is contesting from Rajendranagar constituency on behalf of Navarang Congress Party, and to Narasimha and Tudumu Pandu, who are contesting in Shadnagar and Chevella constituencies as independent candidates. Let’s see if these symbols bring any luck to these candidates.
