Guglielmo Marconi is Born (1874)

Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi is celebrated today on his birthday. Credited as the “father of radio,” Marconi developed the radio telegraph system, enabling long-distance wireless communication. His groundbreaking work earned him a share of the 1909 Nobel Prize in Physics.

Actress Devika’s Birth Anniversary (1943)

Today marks the birth anniversary of veteran Telugu actress Devika. Born Pramila Devi in 1943, she rose to prominence in the 1960s and 70s. Devika captivated audiences in over 150 films across Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam languages. Her career highlights include her debut opposite legendary actor N.T. Rama Rao in “Rechukka” and her final film, “Sri Madvirat Pothuluri Veera Brahmendra Swamy Charitra”.

Vasantharao Venkatarao’s Death (1909-1992)

Indian science writer and physicist Vasantrao Venkatarao passed away on this day, in 1992. A passionate advocate for scientific literacy, Venkatarao popularized physics through lectures, writings, and Telugu-language textbooks on physics and chemistry.

Tanguturi Suryakumari’s Death (1925-2005)

Former Telugu actress and singer Tanguturi Suryakumari passed away on this day in 2005. Daughter of Tanguturi Sriramulu, younger brother of Andhra Pradesh’s first Chief Minister Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, Suryakumari was a multi-talented artist. She won the Miss Madras pageant in 1952 and embarked on a film career, acting in over 26 movies across Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi.

Anam Vivekananda Reddy’s Demise (1950-2018)

Indian politician Anam Vivekananda Reddy passed away on this day in 2018. Brother of prominent politician Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Vivekananda Reddy served three terms as an MLA for Nellore Rural constituency, representing the Congress party.
