2024 Formula E Race in Hyderabad: Uncertainty Amidst Change in Government

Hyderabad hosted the Formula E race last year, but now the scheduled event for February 2024 has been cancelled, raising concerns about the change in government. The shift from the BRS government to the Congress government in Telangana has cast uncertainties over the planned racing on February 10, 2024. It seems that the organizers have deemed it challenging to proceed with the race under the new political leadership.

During the previous administration, Formula E secured an agreement with the Urban Development Department of the municipal administration on October 30, 2023, to host the race in Hyderabad, a city known for hosting major racing events. However, the prospects of the scheduled Hyderabad E-Prix on February 10, 2024, now appear uncertain.

Representatives from Formula E’s senior executive team met with the newly formed Telangana government earlier this month, and negotiations have been ongoing since then. Despite the event being just a few weeks away, there has been no update from the government, leaving racing representatives sceptical about the event’s management. Next year’s Formula E races are slated for other major global cities, including Tokyo, Shanghai, Berlin, and London.
