Virat Kohli Makes History, Clinches Unprecedented Award from ICC

Run machine Virat Kohli bagged another rare honour. Virat Kohli has been selected for the Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year Award announced by the ICC for the year 2023. Last year, ICC announced that King Kohli was selected for this award based on his talent. Meanwhile, he received this award in 2012, 2017 and 2018. With this, King Kohli created history as the player who received the ODI Player of the Year award four times. No one has received five awards so far in this list. Earlier, Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka, 4 awards) and MS Dhoni (India, 4 awards) received it.

Kohli played brilliantly in the year 2023. He scored 765 runs at a strike rate of 95.62 in the recent ODI World Cup. Kohli, who played 27 matches, scored 1,377 runs and took one wicket. Similarly, he also got 12 catches and scored three centuries and six fifties in the World Cup. With this, he was selected for the ODI Player of the Year award for the fourth time.
