YSRCP’s Kakinada MP Candidate Sunil Chalamalasetty, Is Victory Guaranteed?

Significant developments are unfolding in the Andhra Pradesh elections, particularly with the confirmation that Sunil Chalamalasetty,, a leader of the YSRCP, will be vying for the Kakinada seat. Having switched allegiance from the TDP to the YSRCP in 2020, Sunil garnered notable recognition through his grassroots engagement, expressing his intention to contest as an MP from Kakinada. His proactive involvement in assisting and supporting the community during challenging times has earned him credibility, leading the party to believe that granting him the Kakinada seat could result in a victory. It has been disclosed that Sunil had a meeting with CM Jagan in this context, solidifying his candidacy for Kakinada.

Sunil, who had a long-standing association with the YSRCP, briefly joined the TDP before the 2019 general elections. His electoral attempt on behalf of the TDP against YSRCP candidate Vanga Geetha ended in defeat. Sunil Chalamalasetty’s political journey has been intriguing, commencing with his debut in the Praja Rajyam Party. In 2009, he contested for the Kakinada Lok Sabha seat under the Praja Rajyam Party and faced defeat. Subsequently, he joined the YSRCP and contested from the same position in 2014, experiencing another setback. Following his departure from the YSRCP, he contested on behalf of the TDP in 2019, only to face defeat once again. Consequently, he returned to the YSRCP.

Sunil enjoys greater recognition in Kakinada compared to his stint with the TDP. Political analysts anticipate that, given his current alignment with the ruling party, Sunil is poised to secure a substantial majority in the upcoming election.
