Maharashtra: ‘Maha’ Alliance Finally Clinches Seat Distribution Deal!

In Maharashtra, the ‘Maha’ alliance (Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress Party) has finally completed the seat-sharing agreement. The leaders of the alliance have jointly announced a 21-17-10 formula as final. The Uddhav Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena will contest in a maximum of 21 seats, followed by the Congress Party in 17 seats, and the NCP led by Sharad Pawar will contest in 10 seats.

Initially a consensus among the three parties regarding seat-sharing, a fierce competition emerged for the Sangli Lok Sabha seat. Both Congress and Shiv Sena claimed strongholds in Sangli. However, after Congress stepped back, the path was cleared for Shiv Sena to contest from Sangli, with wrestler Chandrakant Patil as their candidate. Previously, Congress had announced Vishal Patil as their MP candidate from this location but has now retracted that decision.
